Glens Falls 8th grade swimmer Will Schwenker wins to 2 individual sectional titles plus team relay

A young Glens Falls boys swim & dive team that graduated nine seniors last year exceeded expectations at this weekend’s Section 2 swim meet at Shenendowa, finishing a close second to Division 2 champion Ravena.

Of Glens Falls’s 15 sectional qualifiers, 12 were first-timers; four are 8th graders.

Eighth-grader Will Schwenker won two individual sectional titles — 200 individual medley and 100 backstroke.

Adirondack United girls advance to states in 2-1 OT thriller

Adirondack United punched its ticket to the NYSPHSAA Girls Ice Hockey State Final Four for the fourth straight year Thursday with a 2-1 overtime win over Section I champion East Green Wave at Harding Mazzotti Arena. Adirondack seeks its third straight state championship this weekend in Utica.

Glens Falls hires Planning Director

Glens Falls has hired city resident Allison Hargrave-Gaddy as director of its new Department of Planning and Zoning. She will also be responsible for some grant writing and administration, said info.

Salary is $93,000.

The city press release said, “With a shift of personnel and resources, the city was able to hire Hargrave-Gaddy at a net positive change to the city’s budget.”

Glens Falls Fire Department Captain arrested: Alleged union theft

The New York State Police Special Investigations Unit (SIU) said that it arrested Richard G. Stafford, 45, of Glens Falls, on in February 17, 2026 for “Forgery 2nd Degree (2 counts)” and “Petit Larceny.”
