Washington County OK’s budget: 16.97% tax hike; cutting 22 county jobs

The Washington County Board of Supervisors approved a 2026 budget that increases the property tax levy by 16.97% and cuts 10 full-time and 12 part-time county jobs.

Fountain Square ‘Outpost’ set to open in former Orvis this Friday

Chronicle Managing Editor Cathy DeDe writes: Fountain Square Outfitters owners Matt and Nancy Fuller said their second shop “outpost” will open in time for Black Friday, Nov. 29 in the former Orvis store on the “Million Dollar Half Mile,” on Route 9 north of Northway Exit 20 in Lake George/Queensbury.

NYS shutters 3 Queensbury smokeshops; 2 arrested

The state has shuttered three smoke shops in Queensbury, following a pair of investigations in October and November.
  • Smoke Plus at Mount Royal Plaza on Route 9 was found to be in possession of approximately 2,500 flavored vapes for sale. As a first-time offender they are facing a fine of up to $600.
  • 212 Smoke on Quaker Road was found to be in possession of 1,500 flavored vapes for sale.
