Jimmer retires as player, then becomes director of USA 3×3

Jimmer Fredette retired as a player last Wednesday, but he’s not leaving basketball anytime soon.

USA Basketball announced Monday that Fredette, the Glens Falls High School standout whose National College Player of the Year performance at Brigham Young University launched the “Jimmermania” craze, will be the first managing director of the USA 3×3 Men’s National Team.”

After testy meeting, Strough ousts Dixon as Deputy Supervisor; puts in Jean A. Lapper

Queensbury Town Supervisor John Strough removed Ward 3 council member Michael Dixon as his deputy supervisor, replacing him with non-board member Jean Anderson Lapper.

The move came after the April 7 Town Board meeting turned contentious over hiring a new Town Cemetery Superintendent.

Mr. Dixon, a Republican, is challenging Democrat Mr. Strough for Town Supervisor in November.

Sarah Driscoll, whose great uncle was Mayor Akins, seeks Ward 4 Council seat vs. Ben Lapham

Republican Sarah Driscoll, who said she’s now a stay-at-home mom who did financial audits and training for the State Comptroller’s office for 10 years, will challenge Ward 4 Democratic Common Council member Ben Lapham in November, The Chronicle has learned.

Hudson Falls residents urge: Shut the trash burn plant

Residents expressed outrage about the waste incinerator at 93 River Street, Hudson Falls, in a meeting that ran nearly three hours at the Kingsbury Volunteer Hose Company on April 16.
