Washington County Fair starts Monday

The 133rd Washington County Fair opens Monday, Aug. 21, and continues through Sunday, Aug. 27, at the County Fairgrounds on Route 29, “Old Schuylerville Road,” outside Greenwich.

Carrie Woerner: Horse racing is key to economy & public loves it; ‘small minority’ seeks to ban it

Assembly Member Carrie Woerner was in Glens Falls Monday with State Assembly Speaker Carl Heastie. The Chronicle took the opportunity to ask her thoughts on the push by some to ban horse racing.

Glens Falls gunshots on Maple St., injuries, names withheld

On Sunday, August 13, at about 3:30 a.m., Glens Falls Police said they “responded to a report of gunshots in the area of Maple Street and Culvert Street.

“Officers arrived on scene and confirmed that at least two shots were fired in the area as shell casings were located in the roadway on Maple Street.”

Yankee Boating: $2.5-million storage facility

Yankee Boating — the 57-year-old family-owned Lake George marina — is building a $2.5-million storage facility across from Roaring Brook Ranch on Route 9N west of Northway Exit 21.

Owner Andrew Brodie said he’s been approved for three buildings. He’ll have indoor, outdoor, and now heated indoor storage, “which I don’t believe anyone else in the area is providing.”
