Joe Gross plans 400 ‘affordable’ apartments geared to families, off Exit 21 in LG

CHRONICLE SCOOP • Zander Frost writes: Joe Gross, owner of Gross Electric, seeks to build 400 apartment units geared to families at the site of the former Ramada Inn on Route 9N, just off of Exit 21 in Lake George. He owns the property.

Basil & Wick’s in North Creek to close

The Chronicle’s Zander Frost reports: Basil & Wick’s in North Creek said it will close its doors on Sunday, March 31, after more than 14 years in business.

“It is with a heavy heart that I am announcing the closing of Basil & Wick’s,” said owner Jane Peter.

Queensbury Joann Fabrics to close as chain shutters all stores

Zander Frost reports: The Queensbury Joann Fabrics and Crafts will close as the chain shutters all its locations and goes out of business, the company announced.

CBS News reported that Joann had previously filed for Chapter 11 Bankruptcy Protection and had planned to close around 500 stores. Queensbury was not included in that initial closure list.

This week, it found a buyer that plans to close the business altogether.

2 Glens Falls assaults lead to arrests; YMCA, Morgan Ave.

The Glens Falls Police Department announced in a press release that it made a pair of arrests in connection to two separate alleged assaults this weekend. Both incidents, one at the Glens Falls YMCA and the other at 26 Morgan Avenue, left the victim seriously injured.

Skater who fell through the ice on Lake George
