New Way Lunch plans to reopen on South Street this summer; add outdoor dining

New Way Lunch will reopen on South Street by mid-summer, adding outdoor dining and a “facelift.”

“It’s been really hard having it closed,” Ali Gazetos Mineo told The Chronicle.

“It’s your flagship store, it’s been open 100 years on that street. So we knew we had to get it back open. It’s been really sad as a family to have it closed.”

Winter Carnival & more!

The Lake George Winter Carnival, celebrating its 60th anniversary, is back in full force after last year’s Covid pause.

It opens Saturday, Feb. 5, and runs every Saturday and Sunday throughout February.

“All the events are back, and we’re ready to rock and roll,” says co-organizer Lou Tokas.

Outhouse races, a parade and a Chili Cook-Off are among this Saturday’s featured events.

Sembrich nears its 100th year: Renews classic light fixtures

The Sembrich Museum in Bolton Landing has just completed restoration of 11 historic lighting fixtures that are original to the lakeside summer teaching studio of famed opera soprano Marcella Sembrich, now a museum.

The studio was built in 1923-24 by the Schermerhorn Construction Company, based in Lake George Village.

Madame Sembrich provided private instruction at the studio beginning in the summer of 1925. …

Crandall Park & Moreau Skating Open

Skating opens at GF Crandall Park pond; lights to 10 p.m.

The Crandall Park pond is open for public skating, said a press release from Lawrrence Dudley, new Communications Director for the City of Glens Falls.
