Pam Fisher aims to get ‘Loopy’ at the Wood Theater

Kids do ‘West Side Story’ at the Wood

The students in Broadway Upstate perform West Side Story (school edition of the Leonard Bernstein-Stephen Sondheim musical) Thursday to Sunday, Oct. 24-27, at the Wood Theater in Glens Falls. Curtain times are Thursday and Friday at 7 p.m., Saturday at 2 and 7 p.m, and Sunday at 2 p.m.

Hawaiian-born Kaena to revive her dance show on Aug. 24 at Wood Theater

Kaena Peterson, the native Hawaiian who became a Lake George sensation dancing the hula at the Tahitian Lounge at Charley Wood’s Tiki Motor Inn in the 1970s, is taking to the stage again.

Throngs flocking to local events

Local venues and community events are drawing big crowds.

Sunday’s Glens Falls Symphony Orchestra Holiday Concert at Glens Falls High School drew 875 people. The prior Tuesday’s Adirondack Voices Winter Glow attracted a record 472 people at Christ Church United Methodist.

Hudson Falls’ Emily Murphy, 24, to head Wood Theater

Hudson Falls native Emily Murphy, 24, will become the new executive director of the Charles R. Wood Theater on Monday, March 6, The Chronicle has learned.

Ms. Murphy was most recently box office manager for Terry Rabine’s Lake Theatre at the Holiday Inn Resort in Lake George (formerly Lake George Dinner Theatre).
