Carrie Woerner: Start racing at Belmont (then in Saratoga)

New York Assemblywoman Carrie Woerner is urging Governor Andrew Cuomo to allow thoroughbred racing to begin at Belmont Park, without fans in the stands, as a prelude to saving the Saratoga racing season due to start on July 16.

Shirt Factory’s Food Truck Corrals return; big changes

Chronicle Managing Editor Cathy DeDe writes: The Thursday Market & Food Truck Corral returns to the Shirt Factory on Lawrence and Cooper Streets in Glens Falls on May 21 — though with significant changes due to Social Distancing protocols, says organizer and Shirt Factory owner Eric Unkauf.

Glens Falls Mayor Hall’s grandson George, 2, has leukemia; community rallies

Amid the coronavirus pandemic, a Glens Falls family is dealing with the equally frightening specter of childhood cancer.

George Hall, the 23-month-old son of Kevin and Sarah Hall, was diagnosed with leukemia last month.

Hyde Museum isn’t just closed; it’s barricaded

The Hyde Collection has installed a staggered series of 4,000-pound concrete barricades in front of the main entrance on Warren Street. Hyde CEO Norman Dascher said the museum added the new security measure when it closed in accordance with state coronavirus mandates.
