Grumbellies completes buy of former GFNB Ft. Edward; eyes May 20 opening

Chronicle Managing Editor Cathy DeDe writes: Grumbellies closed on purchase of the former Glens Falls National Bank Fort Edward branch on April 14 and plans to open there on Tuesday, May 20.

Jeff and Irma Hamblin closed the restaurant/music venue’s first location in Fort Ann last July, after losing their lease.

They paid $215,000 for the former bank branch, Washington County real estate records said.

Pair of eateries eye Ft. Edward

Two established local restaurants — Grumbellies from Fort Ann and Kerrie’s from Queensbury — are in the process of moving to Broadway in downtown Fort Edward.

Both came before the Fort Edward Planning/Zoning Board Tuesday night.

The board unanimously approved the Grumbellies plan. Nasrene Haj, Doreen Rabine and Bernard Taylor all voted yes.

Grumbellies reborn

Grumbellies has found a new home — in downtown Fort Edward in the former Glens Falls National Bank building at 159 Broadway that closed in 2021.

Irma Hamblin told The Chronicle they are purchasing the property for $215,000.

After 8 years, Grumbellies in Fort Ann closes

Hugs were dished out as frequently as chicken wings Saturday night as customers streamed in to say goodbye to Grumbellies Eatery in downtown Fort Ann.
