Alibaba’s Jack Ma buys $23-million Adirondack property

Chinese billionaire Jack Ma, founder of the e-commerce company Alibaba, paid $23-million for a 28,120-acre property in the Adirondacks, The Wall Street Journal reported.

Alibaba spokesman Jim Wilkinson told the newspaper that Mr. Ma bought the land, which includes more than nine miles of the St. Regis River, trout streams and a private-label maple-syrup operation, mainly for conservation purposes, but could use it as a personal retreat as well.

The 91-student graduating class of Greenwich Central School is sending not just one but two seniors to Princeton University, plus one to M.I.T. (Massachusetts Institute of Technology) and one to Colgate.

Formal path to full pistol permits set by Saratoga Co. Sheriff

Saratoga County Sheriff Michael Zurlo announced that there will soon be a formal path for residents who want an unrestricted concealed carry pistol permit.

“We are putting together an all-day course that would include four hours in the classroom, a written test and live-fire safety with a certified National Rifle Association instructor at a firing range,” Sheriff Zurlo told The Chronicle Monday.
