GF Symphony kicks off all-Beethoven & Bernstein season

On Sunday, the Glens Falls Symphony dashed from the starting line in what will be a marathon season of exclusively Ludwig van Beethoven and Leonard Bernstein, celebrating the composers’ 250th and 100th birthdays (in 2019 and 2018, respectively).

JG3 announces college Sunday at Qby. Hotel; GW’s prediction

Glens Falls High School basketball standout Joseph Girard III will announce his college choice Sunday, Oct. 14, at 7 p.m., in the Queensbury Hotel’s Adirondack Room.

The all-time leading scorer in New York State history will select from his final six schools: Boston College, Duke, Michigan, Notre Dame, Penn State and Syracuse.

Mineo’s new restaurant in Tallulah space: ‘gaslight.’

Frank Mineo’s planned restaurant in the former Bistro Tallulah space at 26 Ridge Street in Glens Falls will be called gaslight.

“Lower case ‘g’, with a period at the end,” he told The Chronicle.

He said the name “was a family effort. I tweaked it a little bit. I like the simplicity and satire. It wasn’t an easy process.”

Dunham’s Bay Marina sold to O’Haras, who have Freedom Boat Club biz

Matt and Rebecca O’Hara, who for the past three years have operated a Freedom Boat Club franchise at Beckley’s boats at Diamond Point on Lake George, now are buying their own marina, Dunham’s Bay, on the southeast shore.

Karen Howard, who has operated Dunham’s Bay since 1972, told The Chronicle that the sale closing is set for Thursday, Oct. 11. The price was not disclosed.…
