Dilligaf seeks bigger signs in Lake George: 1 variance OKd, 1 rejected

DILLIGAF, the controversial Lake George clothing shop at 325 Canada Street, requested variances to allow 36-square-foot signs on the shop facing Canada and Amherst Streets.

Village code stipulates that such signs can only be 25 square feet.

The Zoning Board voted unanimously at its March 5 meeting to approve the variance for the side facing Canada Street but not the Amherst Street facing side.…

Crandall Library mulls bird safety but hopes 2024 cedar waxwing die-off was ‘fluke’

Last May 4, 19 cedar waxwings were found dead at the base of a large window in front of Crandall Public Library.

Tests conducted by the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation determined the cause of death to be blunt impact trauma. A DEC spokesperson told The Chronicle the birds “likely collided into windows that were reflecting images of the sky or trees.”…

Family faults Glens Falls in death of woman in clothing bin fire

The daughter and mother of Michelle McFarren spoke with The Chronicle prior to a protest outside City Hall last Friday.

The body of Michelle McFarren, 43, was found by city police early Thursday, March 6, in a blue clothing donation box on fire behind Talk of the Town restaurant on Hudson Avenue.

The investigation is ongoing. The cause of death was cited as fire-related.…
