Winter Carnival & more!

The Lake George Winter Carnival, celebrating its 60th anniversary, is back in full force after last year’s Covid pause.

It opens Saturday, Feb. 5, and runs every Saturday and Sunday throughout February.

“All the events are back, and we’re ready to rock and roll,” says co-organizer Lou Tokas.

Outhouse races, a parade and a Chili Cook-Off are among this Saturday’s featured events.

LG adds Mardi Gras Gumbo event to Winter Carnival, 2/29

Chronicle Managing Editor Cathy DeDe writes: Lake George restaurants and merchants are adding a fifth weekend to this year’s Winter Carnival.

Saturday, Feb. 29, from noon to 5 p.m., nearly 20 restaurants will participate in a Mardi Gras gumbo party.

“It’s not the Winter Carnival committee, but all the merchants doing it,” says Nancy Nichols of Mario’s Restaurant, who is involved with both efforts. “Everyone is doing homemade gumbo.”
