Glens Falls YMCA merging into Saratoga YMCA

The Glens Falls YMCA will officially become a part of the Saratoga Regional YMCA by the end of the year, the Glens Falls YMCA announced in a press release.


The Chronicle broke the news in January that the two organizations were planning the move.

FIRST IN THE CHRONICLE • Zander Frost reports: Stewart’s Shops has signed an agreement to purchase the assets of Jolley Associates convenience store chain and S.B. Collins including its heating oil business Clarence Brown of St. Albans, Vermont.

Stewart’s confirmed the purchase plan in a written response to a Chronicle inquiry.

‘Taco King’ will open second restaurant in Hudson Falls

FIRST IN THE CHRONICLE: Zander Frost reports: “Taco King” Juan Ramirez is expanding to Hudson Falls.

He plans to open El Gallo Mexican Restaurant at 345 Main Street, next door to the Dollar General. It was most recently occupied by the Lazy Duck Cafe, another Mexican restaurant.

Mr. Ramirez said his opening date is “maybe” the next few months.

El Gallo means “the rooster” in Spanish.

‘Bowled’ Açai franchise, coming to downtown Glens falls

Zander Frost reports: Acai bowl franchise Bowled is coming to downtown Glens Falls.

Kim Marro-Borysewicz told The Chronicle that she and partners Stephen and Michelle Christian will open the location at 140 Glen Street, across the hall from Kru Coffee.

Bowled markets itself as a “A Healthy Alternative to Fast Food.”

Its main offerings are acai, salad, & grain bowls and smoothies.

BREAKING: Split as GF Council votes tonight on $1.2-million TD Bank land buy

Mayor Bill Collins wants the Glens Falls Common Council to vote tonight to approve spending $1.2-million to buy the former TD Banknorth property next to the Queensbury Hotel and across Maple Street from City Park and Crandall Public Library.

The meeting at City Hall starts at 7:30 p.m.
