Kindergartener leaves GF’s Kensington School, found safe in Crandall Pond

A kindergartener left Glens Falls’ Kensington Road Elementary school and was later found safe in Crandall Pond, Glens Falls City School District said.
 
The district said the incident occurred on Monday, September 9.
Glens Falls City School Superintendent Krislynn Dengler said in a message emailed to parents, “This is something we never want to have happen, and thankfully this is a very atypical event.”

Glen St. tenants get eviction notice; Patten project site

391 Glen St. resident Denise Baldwin told The Chronicle she received a notice to vacate on Aug. 27 from her landlord, One Washington Street Development, LLC. The Chronicle obtained a picture of the notice to verify Ms. Baldwin’s report. It orders Ms. Baldwin to leave the premises by Nov. 30.

Uncommon Grounds to open in Queensbury Sept. 4

Chronicle Staff Writer Zander Frost reports: Uncommon Grounds will open in Queensbury next Wednesday, Sept. 4, at 751 Glen Street, the former site of Recovery Grill, General Manager Emily Ellenbogen told The Chronicle.
 
The location will roast its own coffee and make bagels from scratch on-site every morning.

OK sought for 4-story apartment building, 5 Sherman Ave.

Donald Sweetser plans to construct a four-story building with 32 apartments at 5 Sherman Avenue, said an application submitted to the Glens Falls Planning Board.

It would go where a three-story apartment building was destroyed by fire in spring 2014. That building resembled the 7 Bemis Place apartments next-door, also owned by the Sweetsers.

Fire damages Cole’s Woods Bridge; Police: not ‘natural cause’

The City of Glens Falls reported fire damage to a footbridge in Cole’s Woods.
“Two 9-1-1 calls were received in the early morning of Saturday, Aug. 24, reporting that a footbridge in Cole’s Woods was smoldering,” said the City.
“The footbridge is located on the ‘Long Diagonal’ section of the Cole’s Woods Tom Jacobs Race Loop Trail.”
