The Village of Lake George will rename a portion of Mountain Drive “Ben Osborn Boulevard.” The renamed road passes in front of the entrance to the Lake George Jr.-Sr. High School auditorium, between between Canada and Ottawa Streets.

Corporal Benjamin D. Osborn was a Queensbury native and a 2002 graduate of Lake George High School, the Village notes. “In June 2010, Osborn was killed at the young age of 27, while serving his country during Operation Enduring Freedom. He was known for his humor, his adventurous spirit, his unconditional love for his family and friends, and his devoted dedication to his nation.”
Mayor Ray Perry wrote, “Renaming this street was one way to honor a wonderful man who was selfless. The Board of Trustees and I felt it was right and just to commemorate him this way, as he left a big imprint in our community.”
The Ben Osborn Memorial Fund is a non-for-profit organization founded by Ben’s father, William D. Osborn, to support youths between the ages of 5 and 18 in Warren, Washington and Saratoga Counties, said the Village.
The fund provides school supplies, tutoring services, winter clothing items, electronics, field trip admission expenses, musical instruments and classes, eyeglasses, scholarships, and more through local schools. Mayor Perry said, “As the Osborn’s work diligently to provide assistance to our schools, this is a way to say thank you for all their hard work and to continue a local hero’s legacy.”
