Chronicle staff writer Ben Westcott reports: Robert and Anastasia Palulis, facing criminal charges in the deaths of 21 dogs, did not show up to their court date at Argyle Town Court Tuesday. Nor did their defense attorney Bill White.
Prosecuting attorney Taylor Fitzsimmons told The Chronicle afterward that the Palulises have 48 hours to “check in” to court after the no-show and that if they fail to do so, Judge Stacy Davis could issue a warrant against them.
During the court session, Judge Davis denied a motion for dismissal based on discovery violations, and the court found probable cause existed for the arrest.
A jury trial was scheduled for May 28 at Argyle Town Court.
The Palulises are charged with 22 misdemeanor counts of overdriving/torturing/injuring animals and failure to provide proper sustenance to the dogs in their care after 21 perished overnight at Anastasia’s Acres Dog Boarding in Argyle last August.
