What is Larry Bulman doing at Republican Convention?

By Gordon Woodworth, Chronicle News Editor

Prominent Democrat and South Glens Falls resident Larry Bulman traveled the country this spring helping Hillary Clinton become the presumptive Democratic nominee for president. Now he’s at the Republican National Convention in Cleveland.

What’s he doing there? “I’m here for work. Press appearances and hosting a few events,” said Mr. Bulman, who is the Director of Legislative and Political Affairs for the United Association of Plumbers, Pipefitters and Steamfitters and a former Vice-Chairman of the New York State Democratic Party.

“Many Democrats are here,” said Mr. Bulman, adding that he had fun catching up with David Axelrod, the political strategist who led President Barack Obama’s two successful campaigns. “It’s my first GOP convention,” Mr. Bulman noted.

Seeber urges Bulman: Vote Trump!

Rachel Seeber, Republican Queensbury at-large county supervisor and Donald Trump delegate, said Mr. Bulman saw her on the convention floor and sent her a text.

“Here I am, far from home, watching history in the making, and to have a text from Larry…a strong Democrat and community advocate, I thought this is Queensbury Strong,” Ms. Seeber said.

“This is a family, a community, and as I now sit in the Republican Governors’ Association reception compliments of Larry and his colleagues, I am reminded that the best of friends, the relationships that withstand the storm, and the community members that shine are those individuals like Larry.

“Thanks for including me, Larry. To my Democratic friend and Hillary Clinton supporter, let me say I truly appreciate our friendship and respective viewpoints,

and I vow to always look at the person. You, Larry, are a class act! Now let’s make American great again and vote for Trump!”

Asked about seeing Ms. Seeber, Mr. Bulman said, “I have two colleagues with me and invited Rachel to attend a few private events I had access to. I will be attending the Democratic National Committee Convention in Philadelphia next week.”
